During five months this winter, we witnessed four serious incidents in Norwegian waters. They where all very different, and revealed how risk of accidents can develop despite modern technology, traffic monitoring and emergency preparedness. Is the safety and preparedness at sea at an acceptable level, and can we protect passengers, crew, ship and the coastlines from disasters?

What if the frigate had caused a hole in the crude oil tanks in the collision? What if Northguider had grounded 5 minutes flight time longer away from Longyearbyen and caused an oil spill? What if the anchors on Viking Sky and Hagland Captain did not attach? Is the protection of people and coast based on coincident?

This event will focus on the arctic waters and aims to bring more clarity in how risk and preparedness is managed.
